We could confirm 44 shops open as of October 19, 2026 in and around Dahlonega. That is our own count, made shop by shop. The Visitors Bureau says Dahlonega and Lumpkin County together have “over 100 destination businesses” in retail; that is its own claim, for a wider area.
Most of the 44 are on the Public Square, where the Dahlonega Gold Museum sits in the 1836 Lumpkin County Courthouse, or on the streets just off it: East Main, North Park, and North and South Chestatee. A few more are on North Grove Street, North Meaders Street, Choice Avenue and Memorial Drive. Two are a drive out of town: the rock and jewelry shop at Crisson Gold Mine, and the Mountain Crossings outfitter at Neel Gap on the Appalachian Trail.

Plan around the hours
Several shops keep shorter hours early in the week. The shop hours table shows every shop by day as it publishes them, and the Shopping Day Planner puts the shops open on your day in a walking order. Buying for someone specific? Try the Gift Finder.
Closed, moved or not confirmed
These shops still appear in older directories or on an old map. We could not confirm any of them open as of October 19, 2026, so we do not recommend them.
- Southern Finds: the nonprofit No One Alone lists its Southern Finds resale shop as closed.
- Deadwood Guitar Co.: its own website now gives an address in Lexington, Georgia, though the DDA and Visitors Bureau still list it at 19 East Main Street.
- Grateful Days: the newest Facebook post we could see was from June 28, 2024, and the website on record now redirects to an unrelated retailer.
- Dahlonega Tasting Room, 16 North Park Street: the DDA lists a Georgia-wine tasting room here, but Habersham Winery’s own visit page names only its Helen and Sautee locations, and OpenStreetMap now maps a cafe at the address.
- The Pig & The Poppy: its old website and the Visitors Bureau place it inside what is now Old Storehouse Art, and we found no current activity of its own.
- Dipsy Doodle Antiques: listed in the Visitors Bureau directory on Panter Drive; its website shows only a loading screen.
- Locally Crafted Market: listed in the Visitors Bureau directory on North Grove Street; its web address now says the domain is not connected to a site.
- Lane Collins Co. Children’s Boutique: the website on its DDA listing belongs to a photography studio at the same address, whose shop page returns “not found”.
- Xclusiv Handbags and Accessories: the DDA and Visitors Bureau list it at two different addresses, and its website domain does not resolve.
- Well Made Dahlonega and So Tempted: both appear only in the Visitors Bureau directory, and we found no website or social page for either.
- Bear Cub Gifts, Southern Soles Boots, Home & Whimsy and Ole’ Mountain Boutique: all four appear only as ads on the Visitors Bureau’s 2018 downtown map, with no current website, social page or listing. Kilwins now uses Ole’ Mountain’s old address, 40 Public Square South.
