Dahlonega Gift Shops: Gifts, Candles and Home Decor

The short answer

Dahlonega gift shops cluster on and just off the Public Square: an old-fashioned general store, a candle shop open since 2007, an eclectic mercantile that builds custom gift baskets, Southern-humor and rustic-decor shops, and a glassblower who demonstrates daily. Here is what each shop says it sells, who it suits, and whose hours are confirmed, checked October 19, 2026.

The short answer: start at the Dahlonega General Store on the south side of the Public Square, then work through The Humble Candle, Cranberry Corners on North Park Street and the smaller gift shops around them. As of October 19, 2026 we could confirm eight shops whose main business is gifts, candles, home decor or souvenirs, and many more that sell gifts alongside chocolate, glass, toys or jewelry. Below is what each says it sells, and whose hours are confirmed.

The gift shops

Dahlonega General Store

An old-fashioned country store at 24 Public Square South. Its own site lists fresh roasted peanuts, homemade jams, jellies and relishes, old-fashioned candy, marbles by the pound, wooden yo-yos, train whistles and other toys, plus knives, baskets, nostalgic metal signs, moccasins and home decor. Hours, as listed on its own site, checked Oct 19, 2026: Sunday to Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. That 9 p.m. close matches the latest any shop here publishes on its own site.

The Dahlonega General Store sells many of its products online as well as in the store, with 1-2 day shipping on most orders. (Dahlonega General Store, checked Oct 19, 2026)

The Humble Candle

A mom-and-pop candle and gift shop at 44 Public Square, open since February 14, 2007. It carries candles from several makers, bath and body products, wax melts, wrapped votives and home fragrance. Its own site lists Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. The DDA directory shows its Sunday opening as “12:00 AM”, which is a typo; the shop’s own page says noon.

Cranberry Corners

Cranberry Corners has been in business since 1995 and sits at 44 North Park Street, in the Woodsmen of the World building that was originally the Square’s post office. Its own site lists custom gift baskets, greeting cards, handmade items by North Georgia artists, antiques, gourmet foods and Irish edibles, jewelry, hats, handbags, socks, collegiate puzzles, Ty plush toys and Christmas items all year. It is open seven days, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., except that it closes Mondays and Tuesdays in January and February.

Cranberry Corners makes custom gift baskets to order by phone. (Cranberry Corners, checked Oct 19, 2026)

Country Cottage

Listed in the DDA directory at 84 Public Square North for rustic home decor, gifts, shoes, hats, apparel and the Life Is Good brand. It has no working website, so call ahead for hours.

High Cotton

A Southern-humor gift shop at 34 Public Square, also listed by the Visitors Bureau as Humble Abode. The DDA listing names Sweet Tea soap and Redneck Wine Glasses as examples of what it sells. No website; call ahead.

Black Bear Mercantile

A gift shop on South Chestatee Street that takes the Dahlonega Dollars gift card. The two directories disagree on where it is: the DDA lists 10 South Chestatee Street, Suite D, and the Visitors Bureau lists 120 South Chestatee Street, Suite A. The DDA lists it as closed on Sunday. Call (706) 864-2327 before you go.

Dahlonega Rocks and Smoking Fly Cigars

Two narrower shops from the DDA directory: Dahlonega Rocks on South Chestatee Street for rock and roll tees, posters and hats, and Smoking Fly Cigars at 32 Choice Avenue for premium cigars. Both are directory-only listings, so check hours by phone.

Good for whom

These matches come only from what each shop’s own page or listing says it sells. The Gift Finder does the same thing by person and by the day you visit.

  • A host: a Cranberry Corners gift basket, a candle from The Humble Candle, a High Cotton gift, or something edible from the shops on our food and sweets page.
  • Someone who decorates: The Humble Candle’s home fragrance, Country Cottage’s rustic decor, the General Store’s metal signs and baskets, a glass suncatcher, or vintage pieces from No. 3 Vintage and Reclaimed Rose.
  • Kids: the General Store’s marbles and wooden yo-yos, Cranberry Corners’ plush toys, and the glassblowing demonstration; the toy store is on kids and pets.
  • A souvenir: the General Store, Cranberry Corners, Black Bear Mercantile, a name in glass, or a Dahlonega tee from Dress Up.
  • A collector: the General Store’s marbles, Cranberry Corners’ antiques, or the shops on antiques and vintage.
