Dahlonega Boutiques: Clothing and Apparel Shops on the Square

Search for “Dahlonega boutiques” and much of what comes back is boutique hotels. This page is about the other kind: shops that sell clothes. As of October 19, 2026 we could confirm five clothing and apparel shops on and around the Public Square, plus the University of North Georgia bookstore for school gear. Dress Up and the bookstore publish their own hours. The rest are known mainly from the downtown directory, so call ahead.

The clothing shops at a glance

Dress Up: women’s clothing by the Square

Dress Up is a women’s clothing and accessories boutique at 5 North Chestatee Street. Its own page points to a store-exclusive collection of Dahlonega local tees and pullovers, so if you want a shirt that says where you spent the day, start here. The DDA directory still lists Dress Up at 120 South Chestatee Street; the shop itself gives 5 North Chestatee, and that is the address we use.

Its hours, as listed on its own site, checked Oct 19, 2026, run Monday to Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. It is one of only two shops on this page that publish their own Monday hours.

Vickie Lynn’s Gifts: custom embroidery on the Square

Vickie Lynn’s, at 74 Public Square North, makes custom embroidered items. Its own Facebook page shows matching tees, hats and bags, and its page was active in September 2026. The web address it once used is now a parked domain, and its hours come only from the DDA directory, so call before you make a special trip. Use the number on its Facebook page, (706) 300-5575; the DDA directory shows a different one.

Country Cottage and Dahlonega Rocks

Country Cottage, at 84 Public Square North, is listed in the DDA directory for shoes, hats, apparel and the Life Is Good brand, alongside rustic home decor and gifts. Dahlonega Rocks, on South Chestatee Street, is listed for rock and roll tee shirts, posters and hats, which makes it the stop for a teenager who would rather have a band shirt than a souvenir mug. Neither has a working website we could find, so treat the DDA hours in the table as a guide only. The listing we used gives no phone number for Dahlonega Rocks.

Outdoor clothing: Woodlands Edge

For outdoor clothes, the Dahlonega DDA describes Woodlands Edge on North Park Street as an outfitter carrying apparel and gear from Patagonia, Columbia, Kavu, Chaco and Costa. Its own website no longer loads, and the DDA lists it as closed on Tuesdays, so call ahead before you plan around it. The other outdoor shops, including the trail outfitter at Neel Gap, are on our outdoor shops page.

School colors: the UNG Bookstore

The University of North Georgia’s Dahlonega campus bookstore, the Nighthawk Shop, sells UNG merchandise as well as course materials. It is run by Barnes & Noble College under a university contract. The university’s own page lists Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., checked Oct 19, 2026. The DDA directory gives different hours and a different phone; we use the university’s.

Kids’ clothes

We could not confirm a children’s clothing boutique open downtown as of October 19, 2026. The two that an old directory listing and a 2018 map still show are on our shop directory under “Closed, moved or not confirmed”. For children, the confirmed shops are toy and gift stores; see kids and pets. Cranberry Corners on North Park Street lists hats, handbags and socks among its gifts on its own site, and Local Pup on the Square sells a little apparel for humans along with its dog gear.

Planning a clothing stop

All of these shops are on the Square or a short walk from it: Dress Up and Dahlonega Rocks on Chestatee Street, Vickie Lynn’s and Country Cottage on the north side of the Square, and Woodlands Edge on North Park Street.
